What should I ask?
Pretty simple, ask whatever you want to know about. Try to keep it appropriate, but otherwise, just be yourself!

Q: Are you going to help sing the new musical selection?
A:
...maybe? Depends where you're talking about! What event do you mean? :D

Q: Can we all get a progress meter for our lives? Can you write a song for it and provide the music?
A:
I think those are called scars. And, emotionally speaking anyway, a bunch of my songs are about how you get them. So really, I already have! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED XD

Q: So what is this mysterious software development story??
A:
Okay, I used to code for a major software house, & we had a problem with our programme installer. We shipped 100s of fonts when everyone else shipped 5-10, & we found a bug wherein if it took time S to install a font, installing N fonts didn't take S*N, it took S*∑(1...N). So even if S is very small, installing 200 fonts could take _over an hour_, all while installer displayed a static "Setup is updating your system" dialogue. People thought their computer crashed, rebooted, & called support.
So at a dev meeting, I joked, "Y'know, what we _really_ need is to put a _progress metre_ on the _updating your system dialogue_." Everyone laughed, & as they laughed, I realised, NO WAIT WE DO! & said so. Everybody said, "but that doesn't fix the problem," & I said "the _problem_ is that people are rebooting their systems and _calling us_. If _something is moving_, they won't think it's crashed & _won't call_."
Everybody went O.O & scrambled. It worked; the support calls vanished overnight. \o/

Q: Comic Sans is kind of a joke. Or it WAS. Now it's getting all kinds of hilarious interest. You'd be more than welcome.
A:
I love jokes that turn into real shit. I should tell you about when I was a software developer and we ended up shipping a sarcastic remark I made in a dev meeting. :D

Q: when will you be playing long island
A:
The minute I can come up with (or anybody hands me) a way to get out there that involves feasibly breaking even on the trip. It's around $800 round-trip _just in gas_, if I drive, so that's not easy.
But I'd _love_ to tour around New England! I'm mid-tour right now, doing house concerts up and down central Cascadia, and having a great time. One of those out there would be absolutely epic!

Q: You play a lot of instruments. How many?
And following upon that, what's the maximum you've played in one recorded track? And how many do you take with you when you are playing out?
A:
For playing out: Zouk, mandolin & octave mandolin, bodhran, bamboo flute, maybe doumbek. I make the flutes!
In studio: bass guitar, keyboard, noisemakers. I can eke out songs on violin & cajun accordion if VERY simple - but if I can't get a studio recording, I can't really play it. XD
So, classifying "noisemakers" as 1 instrument: live, 5 or 6; in studio, 8 or 9. I combine drums w/noisemakers to make Fake Drumkit on Stay Away & My Boyfriend, so 9 or 10? XD
Any 1 song? I keep a lid on that. Most songs are 4 instruments or fewer. Also, I fake instruments through fakery! (e.g., the bass mandolin in "Artefacts" is an octave mandolin, pitch shifted.)
Shout at the Desert & Artefacts are the most _complicated_, at 13ish tracks each. Stay Away & My Boyfriend sound simple but have FAKE DRUMKIT! which alone is 5 recording tracks & a LOT of regions. I think it depends on how you look at it!
Playing out, I usually just have zouk & mandolin. Rarely, also flute or bodhran.
Thx for asking! ^_^

Q: Whose name do you use when you swear?
A:
What, you mean like in gods? Why pick one when there are so very many? But mostly, I don't get specific - I just use the plural. Unless it winds somebody up to invoke one in particular. Then I will. XD

Q: Have you considered mailing out copies of your music if someone bought the cd?
A:
Absolutely. I have physical copies that I sell at shows and I'll be glad to post them off! As soon as the last two tracks for _Dick Tracy Must Die_ are finished, I'll update the various websites and set that up. I'm not sure what service to use yet or whether to try to manage it in-house, tho'. I'd rather outsource as much of the business parts as I can, because hey, professionals!
